No News is Good News

I know many of you are wondering about Stephanie's status. There won't be much to report for a while, and she needs her privacy. She is making steady progress, though she still has a very long road ahead of her. But she is doing miraculously well under the circumstances. Truly a miracle. Thanks for all your prayers!

Christian continues to get stronger. He was even wearing jeans today! He still wears a brace for his broken back, but hopefully he will be done with that soon.

Meanwhile, Jack is enjoying as much time as possible with Ollie, before the inevitable day when he goes to back to Utah.

  1. aww thanks for sharing. I think this coming up time will be hard for some people that think they "know" Stephanie - I totally understand she needs her privacy though. I'm so happy that she is able to get going on this path to recovery! I'm also really glad she has wonderful family like you to see her through. So vulnerable!!!

Ollie and Jack - you should write a book or something about those two little super heroes. Sounds like they really have a lot of fun!

Again - thanks for the update - I know I'm a stranger but I hope you fill us in on your hair soon. I've been wondering how you feel about it now.

    Alright - good night!!!!

Yes, I'm sure people that donated to the NieNie fund might expect to be kept informed on her progress, but she certainly is entitled to her privacy.

We continue to pray for that beautiful girl and her family every day!

  6. I'm glad Christian and Stephanie are doing so well. I keep praying for them. I bet Ollie is still having a blast with you guys.
There is a boy at my son's Elementary School who was in a fire. I don't know the details but my 4th grade son said he remembers that about 2 weeks after school started, they said this boy got out of the hospital. He wears a Spiderman pressure vest? (not really sure if that's the right word. Sorry if it's not). This "vest" looks like it goes on his head and covers part of his face even. Oh, I'm terrible at explaining. The thing is, he's doing OK. I saw him one day and I told him I thought his Spiderman looked cool. He said, "Yeah, it's cool huh." and smiled at me. I thought of Christian and Stephanie. I thought of how someday they might be wearing a vest thingy like that. Ok, so not Spiderman but ya know...someday.

Steady Progress is all I need to hear! Anything beyond that is none of my business - unless & until Stephanie wants to share it!

Thanks so much for the update!

No need to explain and we have to right to ask. :)

I'm here reading because I enjoy YOU. I may have found your blog through supporting this tragedy, but I'm now reading because I enjoy reading your posts. You're a wonderful person, Alice.

  15. Thank you so much for the update. Christian and Nie's story has become such a big part of our lives. My sister and her assistant ask me for updates often and we talk about Nie and her awesome example motherhood. She makes us want to be better mothers and wifes. So updates are so nice to get about our friends. (who are strangers)Thanks!

  18. Thank you so much for including an update on how Stephanie and Christian are doing. They are on my mind and in my prayers throughout every day, not because I feel that I know them or have any right to intrude in their lives but because I care deeply and wonder how they are doing, just as so many others do. I never wish to pry and I want to respect their need for privacy, but I do look forward to hearing how they are doing as their bodies heal.

    Thank you again.

Thank you for the update.. I, like so many others, found your blog after the tragedy, but read it because of you.

I'd be lying if I said that I don't hunger for updates, so thank you for giving them when you feel comfortable doing so.. It's amazing how much you can care about people you have never met (and that means your whole family, not just Stephanie and Christian!!)

Thanks again for letting us in.. God Bless.

  22. Thanks for the update. It really means so much for those of us who are so attached to them now! It is hard for us to wait for news and not seem like we are prying, especially when we are emotionally invested in their recovery and the well being of the children!

I think about Christian and Stephanie daily. I hope for the miracles to continue! I hope they continue to feel our prayers and love! Hugs for everyone!

My thoughts are with you and your family. I imagine you will miss having Christian and Stephanie and the kids so close. The fact that they are well enough to travel to Utah is a miracle and a blessing.

  25. I just wanted you to know your family is in my prayers as you adjust to life without Stephanie and Christian and the kids so close. I imagine that is quite difficult, even if you are rejoicing in the progress they have made!

  26. Sending you all my love as you and your family adjust to not having Christain and Ollie here with you. Please give your lovely Mother an extra hug from me today.
