Quick Update

Sorry I haven't been posting much lately. Things have been sort of crazy, i.e. hosting a small dinner party tomorrow, planning a program/dinner for 120 people on December 2nd (R.S. Enrichment Christmas Dinner... just got called to be the leader and it's less than 2 weeks away), putting together a musical performance in a couple of weeks (I have a small performing group for kids), Christmas shopping (yes, I like to be done before Thanksgiving), singing in church Sunday (a solo with the ward choir), various birthday/family parties, pulling off a successful garage sale last Saturday, and teaching music classes, besides my kids' stuff....carpools, homework, book reports, piano and cello lessons, gymnastics, Cub Scouts, dentist appointments..... you know.

It's bitter sweet to have Christian and Stephanie gone to Utah; we will miss having them close, but it's so wonderful that Steph has progressed enough to be moving on to the next phase, and that she can be close to her family for the kind of support that Christian has had.

And just in case you missed the latest news article about C & S, here it is.

  1. Wow, you have been busy. And it looks like you have been accomplishing a LOT! Congrats!

Prayers are clearly being heard for Christian and Stephanie. This is so awesome, and what a blessing that all of the children in your family are seeing this too!! I know they will be sad that C & S are back in UT, but they take comfort in the fact that they are getting better at a miraculous rate of recovery!

  3. I can't believe all the things you are doing!
And thank you for the link to the article about Stephanie and Christian. That really means a lot to me. She, though she doesn't realize it, is a warm, glowing light that we all want to warm our hands on and enlarge our perspective by.
I once prayed about why I always feel 'stupid.' I learned that I have a trace memory inside, of a life that was as endless and broad as the sky, full of possibilities and the time to make them all come true. I was homesick, and inside me were the secret longings for that home and for the life that was. My heart couldn't understand why I couldn't accomplish all that I wanted to, why I made mistakes, or how it could all be shaped for good.
Now, when I feel 'stupid,' I remember that I'm really feeling homesick.

  6. Good luck with that HUGE list of things to do. The things we do as a wife, mother, member of the church, neighbor and friend. It is endless, with endless rewards.

I am sure Christian and Stephanie will miss being close to your family as well. It had to be a bittersweet decision for everyone. Now you have a reason to visit Utah and maybe take in a little skiing....

  13. BUSY BUSY BUSY!!! It was your family that got Christian & Stephanie to this point! Your family seemed to ALWAYS be taking trips to the hospital & taking such great care of them. It has to be hard to see them go, but I'm Stephanie will be happy to see her family more often as well! I know she will miss all of you here in AZ though!Keep us updated!

    THANK YOU!

  14. Hey, I just realized you have a link to me on your blog and have been catching up on your posts -- you are one of those people I feel like I know, though in real life not so much. I thought if you have a minute in all of your busy-ness you might enjoy reading a post my sister Anne wrote about my sister Kathryn. If you go to Anne's link from my blog, just scroll down two or three posts to find it. We all wish Kathryn would start a blog (it would be hilarious) but we can't seem to talk her into it.
