What do you think?

In case you missed this on CJane's blog......

"From Nie Reader Jolleen-

Channel 3 is having a vote right now to see who the top AZ story of 2008 is. Although they did not list Stephanie and Christians' story (not only the accident, but the story after it), I think they should have! If they pick it up and it wins, maybe it will continue to get coverage and continued support! (Channel 3 and their website have had a few segments/articles about them already.)
So, why not ask Nie supporters to email 3tvnews@azfamily.com, and tell them their vote for the most unforgettable story of 2008 is Stephanie and Christian Nielson and their amazing road toward recovery. As well as the vote, add a comment about how we think the most Unforgettable Story of 2008 should be one that personally touches so many people and spans across such broad aspects of life: death, tragedy, family, fear, faith, technology (blogs), community, medical miracles, service for strangers, a world praying for and donating to a family they have never met, and LOVE."

  5. Ditto what Pink Lemonade Bags said. Most news stories come and go, but this one has had such a lasting impact for so many people.

QUIT ASKING FOR MORE MONEY!! It's starting to border on greed. I sympathize with the situation, but there are MANY people out there who are in more dire circumstances. Perhaps needing food or shelter. I don't mean to sound rude, but the economy is rough right now and there are many people out of work right now. I also am LDS, and know that the church steps in when there is a time of need. I just get tired of seeing constant pleas for donations. Everyone knows that you have already recieved well over $300,000, that plus insurance should go a long ways. We're not stupid. I'm sure I won't see this on you blog, but just wanted to share mine and alot of other readers feelings!

I say "Just Keep Asking." You have done an amazing job so far at raising money, but when I think of 5 million dollars (at least) in doctor and rehab bills, that is completely overwhelming to me. Not to mention all the complications with your sweet brother going back to work to support his family with their day-to-day needs again. I know that insurance, even incredible insurance, doesn't cover $5 million, and although the church and family will help where needed, it is not going to cover the cost. Several families have to declare bankruptcy and lose their credit and even homes due to significant, but much smaller medical bills than the Nielson's. It doesn't sound like Christian or Stephanie's family is going to let that happen, but good grief, this is a HUGE trial for this family. We don't have a lot, and there are a ton of great causes out there. We pick and choose a few, and donate what little we can. But, if we all donated just a little, maybe we can help ease their burden just a bit.

Anyway, if you don't want to donate, no big deal. Like I said, there are tons of fabulous causes out there to support. Do whatever brings the loving, Christlike spirit into your lives. But please don't discourage people from helping this family if they so choose. I know our lives have been blessed by this story, and it is truly an honor to donate. I just wish I had more to give. Merry Christmas to all of you!

  8. I am so sad to see how mean spirited some in this world are. I love that your family and Nie's have chosen to invite myself and others into your world and share a bit of what is going on and the miracles and answered prayers that have occurred in your lives. Please know that your families are in my prayers as well as those whose hearts may need to be softened so that they might wake up to the sadness that their anger and lashing out create. I am so grateful for the atonement and the ability to repent.

    With fondness,

    Cynthia

  9. Keep sharing about your family and let us help! People are so attached to this story because it is one good thing that is going on in this world where people from all over have come together for one great cause. It is something positive that those whose lives might be struggling right now can read and look at and have hope of all the good things people can do.

If you don't want to see all of the positivity that is coming from this then just don't pull up the blog! If you don't want to read about it, then don't look at it. But let those who have been positively influenced and changed from this to keep that warm feeling in their heart.

Especially with this post; all that is requested is to send a simple email. How much does that cost other than a few minutes? All I know is this story has changed lives. People are praying again and have hope and faith through the good of others.

Relax fellow bloggers! Everyone one is entitled to their opinion... No need to repent!

  11. Geesh Annonymous! When I read your comment it was like someone put a knife in my heart. This is one story that has positively changed so many individuals around the world. If they choose to give it is up to them, not you. No one person can single-handedly solve all of the suffereing in the world but WHEREVER we choose to give we are acting as God's hands on Earth to help the suffering. I am certain that those who are so blessed as to be able to donate huge amounts have more that one or two causes they give to.
Lighten up, feel the love, and enjoy the holidays.
Thanks Alice, for your family's example and love!
