Hope, Joy, Angels, Unity, and Harmony

Today we watched the remaining sessions of conference at home. In between, Jay and I made a visit to see Christian. Jay did a great job of making Christian laugh and distracting him from his worries by sharing funny memories with him. (Jay has such a talent for humor! It blesses our home and our lives.)

I love General Conference! What a blessing to hear these inspired messages! All the talks were wonderful, but here are the ones that particularly touched me.

Saturday A.M.
-Dieter F. Uchtorf: Hope

Saturday P.M.
- Joseph B. Wirthlin: Joy amidst Adversity
- Jeffrey R. Holland: Angels

Sunday A.M.
- Henry B. Eyring: Unity

Sunday P.M.
- Russell M. Nelson: Harmony in Marriage

What were your favorites?

  1. Another favorite was Elaine Dalton: "In the strength of the Lord I can do all things" and "Stand for the right even when you have to stand alone". I appreciate your blog. Thank you for the lessons you share.

  2. I was thinking of your family during Uchtorf's, Wirthlin's and Holland's talks. What a great thing to have the gopel during these hard times. Thank you for the updates on your blog. I don't know Stephanie or Christian, but have been inspired to be a better mother, wife and person through reading Stephanie's blog.

  4. Hi Alice- I just wanted to drop you aline and tell you how much I love your blog. It is always an inspiration. Also I wanted to tell you we are family. Random I know but my grandma told me. She actually lived on the ranch that you blog about I love the blogging world because not only are we so inspired but we can meet long distant family. We would be like 7th cousins or something. My grandma Melba is related to your grandpa. Small world I know. Just had to drop by and say hi.

Hi, I'm new to your blog, I love it! Some of my favorites, in addition to the ones you mentioned, were given by Sister Dalton and President Uchdorf at the RS Meeting. what an uplifting conference. I also really enjoyed Elder Christopherson's talk. Heck, I liked them all! ;)

Thanks for the updates about Christian and Stephanie. They remain my my thoughts and prayers.

  6. We thoroughly enjoyed every talk we were able to listen to (which wasn't very many, dang kids) We did enjoy our DELICIOUS whole wheat pumpkin muffins inbetween sessions, though. I'm kind of hoping that for christmas you will give a new and improved recipe book. (no problem with ALL of your free time, I know) I'm sure there are so many other things you make that I haven't tried yet. I feel like I'm missing out! ;)

  7. What a great weekend! I felt so strengthened by each of the talks, and I was hoping that your family was gleaning strength and comfort from them, too. It seemed like there were a lot of talks about adversity/hope, or maybe that's just what I needed to hear most about? ;)

  8. I loved Pres. Uchtdorf's talk too. I just went back now and listened to it again. I was inspired to make my prayers more full of thanks by Elder Bednar. I loved Conference but what I love even more is that we can go back and listen and read it again.

  9. I especially enjoyed Elder Holland's and Wirthlin's talks. I, too, thought of your family when Elder Holland spoke of angels. I imagined angels (probably grandmothers, great-grandmothers, etc.) sitting and keeping watch at Stephanie's bedside as she heals.

  10. I sort of regret that we didn't get to enjoy Jay's talents of funniness more while we lived in Arizona.

Alice, you are awesome. Thanks for your testimony and example.

  12. Could the talk on Hope or that of the Angels touched our lives, with the thoughts of your family, any more? I loved the quote (though I don't quote it because I don't have it word for word) about fear and faith not existing together. I find lots of strength from you and your family because you exhibit so much faith. I find it a great exchange for fear. I hope... I know angels accompany you all.
    God Bless.
